Wash your hair less often. This may seem counterintuitive, but overwashing your hair can actually make it more oily.

Use a clarifying shampoo. A clarifying shampoo can help to remove excess oil, dirt, and product buildup from your scalp.

Use a dry shampoo. Dry shampoo is a great way to freshen up your hair between washes. It absorbs excess oil and gives your hair a boost of volume.

Avoid touching your hair. Touching your hair throughout the day can transfer oil from your fingers to your scalp.

Use a leave-in conditioner. A leave-in conditioner can help to hydrate your hair and scalp, without making it greasy.

Drink plenty of water. Staying hydrated can also help to reduce oil production. Aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.

Avoid heat styling. Heat styling can damage your hair and scalp, and make it more oily. If you must use heat styling tools, be sure to use a heat protectant spray first.

Use a scalp brush. A scalp brush can help to exfoliate your scalp and remove excess oil and buildup. Use a scalp brush once or twice a week for the best results.
